Job Responsibilities:

Streck is creating a new opportunity within our business for a Patent Attorney. This key position will review and manage the Intellectual Property portfolio and monitor for possible infringement and licensing opportunities.  This position will serve as the liaison to external patent counsel regarding the drafting, filing, prosecuting and maintenance of national and international patents.



Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop a business-focused IP strategy to protect and commercialize existing and new products based on competitive intelligence, freedom to operate searches and IP landscape analysis in collaboration with the executive team
  • Ensure IP portfolio is focused on commercially significant developments and maximize return from patent investments
  • Review and evaluate all invention disclosures, patents, trademarks, design rights, copyrights, and license agreements to ensure consistency, compliance and commercial value
  • Analyze competitive patents, trademarks, and inventions throughout the industry to monitor for potential infringement, licensing opportunities, and examine potential risks that patens or trademarks may pose to the organization.
  • Review, renew, defend and enforce patents, trademarks or copyrights


Job Qualifications:

Job Qualifications:

  • Juris doctoral degree with a Nebraska State Bar and Patent Bar are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, genetics, immunology or related life-science discipline is required.PhD in similar field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with other members of management, employees, outside attorneys, consultants and business partners.
  • Highly ethical, self-motivated and directed professional.
  • Ability to convey complex information in a manner that lay individuals can understand.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all information.
