Microbiology Supervisor

Job Responsibilities:

Supervises, directs and coordinates the Microbiology Department to ensure contamination control and maintenance of environmental quality throughout the manufacturing facility.  Responsible for monitoring, trending, assessing, recommending, troubleshooting and reporting all aspects of contamination control. 

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Plan, organize, schedule, and direct testing activities to ensure that material, component, product and environmental surveillance of microbiological testing throughout manufacturing is performed thoroughly.

 

  • Investigate contamination episodes by determining contamination source then developing and recommending effective corrective and preventive actions.

 

  • Coordinate aseptic training activities and provide support for all production departments.

 

  • Review manufacturing processes on a continuous basis to identify and/or correct potential sources of contamination.

 

  • Research, identify and recommend antimicrobials or disinfectants suitable for products and/or production processes to control contamination.  Plan, organize, schedule, perform and prepare final reports for antimicrobial effectiveness according to established protocols.

 

  • Plan, organize, schedule and direct / perform special projects / testing in cooperation with R&D and Quality.
Job Qualifications:

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in microbiology, biology, or related discipline.

 

  • Minimum five years’ related work experience;  Minimum of 2 years leadership or supervisory level experience.

 

  • Knowledge of FDA and other regulatory agency requirements.

 

  • Knowledge of and experience directing industrial safety programs helpful.

 

  • PC literacy with knowledge of spreadsheet, database, word processing applications.

 

  • Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques

 

  • Knowledge of antimicrobial efficacy testing a plus
